The importance of understanding CBD and it’s use

CBD oil

With so much more consumer awareness and uptake of CBD oils and products, it’s reassuring today to see the FDA step in to declare that CBD products had to be registered by March 2021 or they would be pulled. Despite rising sales of CBD goods, not one product has yet been approved in the UK yet, raising safety concerns.

The FSA has also issued new advice on CBD use, saying it should not be used alongside other medication.

The history of CBD and why people have such an interest in CBD products today?

CBD has been cultivated for its medicinal, psychoactive, and physical properties for thousands of years. The earliest recorded medicinal uses of the plant date as far back as 1400-2000 BC. The first documented use of cannabis-derived medicine dates back to 2737 BC when Chinese Emperor Sheng Nung used a cannabis-infused tea to aid with a variety of ailments including memory, malaria, rheumatism, and gout. And he’s not the only one to have recognised the benefits of CBD – Queen Victoria was said to have used CBD products to combat menstrual cramps.

In the  1980s Dr. Mechoulam conducted a study on the potential application of CBD for the treatment of epilepsy as a hypnotic.  In the study, Mechoulam and his team administered daily doses of CBD to study a group of 8 subjects. After just four months of treatment, half of the subjects stopped having seizures and the others exhibited a decrease in the frequency of their seizures. [1.]

Less than a decade later, interest in the therapeutic applications of CBD revealed the discovery of additional cannabinoids, helping researchers to understand cannabinoid structure, and the amazing way our body’s Endocannabinoid System (ECS) works and has the potential to intereact with receptors in CBD. So, the use and interest in CBD from a therapeutic nature continued to rise.

What proof is there that CBD could help with various health conditions?

These days CBD is being used for combating inflammation, achieving better quality sleep, a way to maintain focus and many other applications, but can CBD have a direct positive affect on our health?

The human body has two currently-known types of points where cannabinoids can bind, called CB1 and CB2 receptors. Cannabinoids can attach to the CB1 and CB2 docking points since they have a similar structure to the body’s naturally-occurring endocannabinoids. From here, CBD could impact movement, pain, emotions, mood and other functions regulated by endocannabinoids. This is still an area of active research and an area that is still being explored.[2]

CBD oil has been more recently studied for the positive effects on anxiety [3], depression, PTSD and insomnia. With recent studies showing positive results.[4]

Why the importance of finding a quality brand of CBD?

CBD oil has taken the world by storm, but it can be tricky to decipher which CBD oil is the right one for you. It’s important to know the supply, the process of manufacture and extraction and the brand and the source of the CBD too. CBII is a brand that takes the quality of it’s products to heart. Unlike many other CBD products, every batch of CBD used in CBII has been independently tested and verified. As a CBD brand they harness the power of the naturalal hero ingredient – CBD, which is developed into CBII using a clean and sustainable ethanol extraction method.

CBD, or cannabidiol, is one of over 100 distinct compounds known as cannabinoids that naturally occur in the Cannabis sativa L. plant, otherwise known as hemp. CBII CBD oils are full spectrum extracts which means the oil contains all of the many cannabinoids making it as close to the natural plant as possible with very little of the psychoactive compound THC (<0.2%).

Never has there been a more important time to know the source of your products and be aware of those on the market that don’t reach the claims that they stake. That’s why we’re happy to share this feature for CBII. CBII is a range of premium quality, full spectrum CBD products you can trust.
